Information for journalists
Last updated 2026-09-26
You are among the journalists and media contacts Pressmatch passes press releases to — this is the short version of what that means, and the full text is in our privacy policy.
What we hold. Name and contact details, such as email address, telephone number, location, job title and employer or newsroom, and professional data such as subjects covered, published work, biography, photograph and links to public profiles.
Where it comes from. The data is collected from publicly available sources such as publishers' websites, social media and other online media channels, and from third parties.
Why we process it. To pass press releases and other relevant information to journalists and media contacts by email and through other channels. For that purpose we match content against subjects covered and interests, including by automated means, and keep the data current; the processing is based on our and our customers' legitimate interest in reaching the right recipients.
Who sees it. Our customers, who see your professional data and data about how a sendout was received, and service providers for operations, email delivery, address validation and identifying contact details in text, among others. Providers process the data under agreement and only on our instructions.
How long. We store personal data for as long as it is necessary for the purposes it was collected for and to fulfil our legal obligations, and we have routines for regularly removing data that is no longer needed.
How to stop the sendouts. There are two routes, and they do different things: the link in a sendout stops that sender, while the journalist portal — or an email to privacy@pressmatch.io — stops all press releases through Pressmatch.
Your rights. You can object to the processing at any time, and you have the right to request access, rectification, erasure and restriction. Write to privacy@pressmatch.io and we reply within a reasonable time once your identity has been verified; you can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (imy.se).
